Modeling Systems Division

Modeling Systems Division’s mission is to develop and maintain the user-facing software infrastructure that enables development of Earth system and climate models and high performance computing at GFDL. We focus on three main areas: the Flexible Modeling System (FMS); the FMS Runtime Environment; and data services for internal use and external partnerships. Additional areas of focus include building an integrated set of tools that scientists use in various analysis and visualization activities, and working with the GFDL computer users to implement lifecycle management for those tools. MSD also develops and maintains the Model Diagnostics Taskforce Framework.
